After a couple months of social distancing, meals may start to feel boring or mundane. It is easy to forget all the fun that cooking can bring when there is a lack of variety in our day-to-day lives in general. Restrictions, such as outdoor restaurant seating, are starting to loosen up in some states, but not all. So, how can we make mealtimes more exciting in the meantime? 1. Themed MealsIf you and whomever you live with, whether that be friends, family, or a partner, find that meals have become lackluster and need some spicing up, a great way to do that is with themed dinners. Themed dinners can take on the form of any movie/show, book, place, event, or quite literally anything else you can imagine. Make special meals, dress up in costumes, and let your creativity shine. 2. PicnicsSince we cannot yet eat at our favorite restaurants, find a tranquil, personal place outside to hold your very own picnic. This can either be with just you, or whomever you live with. Pack your favorite snacks and drinks and enjoy some time outside. 3. Drive to a Special LocationIf there are any scenic places that you enjoy going and that are safe to do so whilst maintaining social distancing protocols, this is a great option. If it is not possible for you to drive there, then walking to one in a safe distance is always an option. Simply pack some of your favorite food up and go! For example, this can be a body of water you are able to park and eat at for a change of scenery. 4. Order from Local RestaurantsHave a favorite local restaurant that you have been craving? It might be time to treat yourself, take the plunge, and order some take out! Not only is this a nice change from cooking every night, but it is also a great way to support local businesses during what most likely is a difficult time. Just be sure to be safe while doing so.
