Nutrition in students is vital to a successful experience throughout school for both their minds and their bodies. When it comes to k-12 student athletes, nutrition should be at the forefront of their priorities. According to Child Trends’ study of participation in school athletics, about 55% of certain k-12 students engage in their school’s athletics programs. With half of all students playing sports, proper nutrition is vital for k-12 athletes to both perform optimally in sports and to keep their mind sharp in the classroom. Young athletes need to learn what foods are good for energy, when to eat certain foods, how to eat during an event, and when and what to eat to replenish after activity. It is essential for us as your food service provider to distribute healthy, fresh ingredients that will keep students’ minds and bodies charged and ready for academics during the day and for the field afterwards. However, supplying the food that keeps your student athletes on top of their game is not all we do. We also believe that education about nutrition is partially the responsibility of the food service provider. By utilizing eye-catching physical and electronic signage, fun and educational activities, and transparency in our ingredients, we hope to teach your students the value of nutrition in relation to both academics and sports.
